Simulated response preparation to cyber threats

These are strategic simulation activities that allow organisations to train their teams and test their capabilities to respond to various cyber threats and incidents. During these exercises, participants face realistic attack scenarios and must work together to identifying, analyzing and resolving cyber incidents. The importance of these exercises is that they allow organisations to improve their security procedures, prepare staff for potential crisis situations and minimise the risks associated with cyber threats — a key challenge in today’s digital age.

Risks associated with a successful attack

Loss of sensitive data:

One of the biggest risks for businesses is the loss of sensitive data such as customer personal information, trade secrets, internal documents and other important information. Leaks of this data can lead to financial losses, reputational damage and breaches of data protection laws.

Damage of reputation:

Cyber incidents such as data leaks can seriously damage a company’s reputation. A loss of credibility with customers and the public can have long-term consequences and affect a company’s market position.

Loss of business and clients:

Cyber attacks can cause loss of business and clients, especially if sensitive customer information is leaked. Customers may lose trust in the company and switch to a competitor.

Disruption of operation:

A successful attack can cause disruption to a company’s operations if IT infrastructure is significantly damaged or important data is stolen.

Financial losses:

Cyber attacks can cause serious financial losses to companies. This can include theft of money, financial fraud, paying ransoms to attackers and the costs associated with restoring and securing networks and systems.

Legal implications:

Companies may face legal consequences as a result of cyber incidents. This includes fines for data breaches, lawsuits from affected individuals, and attorney’s fees.

Cyber blackmail:

Some attacks involve threats of extortion, where attackers demand a ransom from the company in exchange for data recovery or an end to the attack.

Potential further attacks:

After a successful attack, a company may face the risk of further cyber attacks as attackers can gain access to internal systems and networks.

About the service

What you get

1

Improving response to cyber threats

The tabletop exercise will allow the cybersecurity team to hone their skills in identifying, analyzing and resolving cyber incidents. This leads to a faster and more effective response to real-world attacks, which can reduce the damage and the time the organisation remains compromised

2

Increase awareness and education of employees

The client will reduce the risk of sensitive data leakage due to successful phishing attacks. This can protect the reputation of your organisation and minimise potential damage.

3

Identification of weaknesses in procedures

The exercise enables the organisation to identify weaknesses and gaps in its security procedures and policies. This allows for improvements and updates that enhance the overall security of the organization.

4

Preparing for crisis situations

The table-top exercise related to cyber incidents. This includes not only technical skills, but also the ability to communicate with the public and deal with the reputational aspects of incidents. This enables the organisation to better manage stressful situations and minimise the impact on its operations and reputation.

The course of the table-top exercise

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 Step 6

Scenario design:

The first step is to define the cyber threat or incident scenario that the organization wants to simulate. The scenario is realistic and includes various aspects of the attack, including its type, targets and possible impact on the organisation.

Team formation:

We will assemble a team of participants who will be involved in the exercise. The team includes members of the cyber security team, IT staff, staff from various departments and other relevant people.

The exercise itself:

During the exercise itself, participants are confronted with a prepared scenario. This involves presenting a fictional cyber incident that evolves in real time. Participants must work together and react to the situation as if it were real.

Discussion and analysis:

The simulation is followed by a discussion and analysis phase. Participants and instructors jointly assess how the situation was handled. Discuss what was done well and what needed to be improved.

Identification of weaknesses:

During the exercise, weaknesses in the response to a cyber incident are identified, including technical deficiencies, communication errors and lack of adherence to security procedures.

Final report with recommendations:

Based on the findings, we will prepare a final report that includes recommendations for improving security and cyber incident response. These recommendations include updates to procedures, additional training, or changes in technology and infrastructure.
